I want to thank everyone who came out to the fights last night from the bottom of my heart. I know so many people paid a lot of money to see me fight and all I wanted to do more than anything was to put on a show for all my friends and family. Even though it didn't work out the way anyone was anticipating, I had a lot of fun and I am so grateful for the incredible amount of support I have. It's an indescribable feeling!
For those of you that don't know, my fight with Adam Schindler last night was ended abruptly in the First round due to a knee injury that Adam sustained. When the fight started we got right after it, exchanged some punches, he was able to take me down but I got right back up. I was really feeling great and I knew the fight was going to be good. I threw a head kick which he caught and when he went to trip me he just dropped to the mat. I thought I may have hurt him with the kick but when I followed him to the mat he was screaming in pain and holding his knee. I knew it was over.
Adam is an extremely tough guy whom I have a lot of respect for. He was a class act before and after the fight and I wish him a speedy recovery because, knowing from experience, knee injuries are not fun!
On the bright side, I'm still healthy, still in shape, and hungrier than ever. I hardly slept last night because I was so frustrated. I JUST WANT TO FIGHT!!! I'll be back in the gym Monday to keep working hard and help push my teammates Chris Camozzi, Nick Macias, Marcus Edwards, Chris Holland, Aaron Trujillo, and Brian Camozzi who all have big fights coming up in the next 6 weeks. Keep an eye for these guys. Ain't no rest for the wicked!
Thank you to my coaches at factory X, Marc Montoya, JJ Pugsley, & Wade Brinkman for the time you put into the gym and us. Thank you to Performance MMA, everyone knows who they are and what they do for the Colorado MMA community; Performance Labs for helping me get this beach bod and to 155lbs; my management, Ingrained Media, who have worked really hard on getting my career on the right path. And last but not least OG Extreme! They came on last minute to help me out and I'm looking forward to a great relationship with such a cool company. Even though they are fairly new to the clothing industry, they are veterans in action sports lifestyles and are going to do big things. Check em out on facebook or ogextreme.com.
